Philip Botha ConsultantBA LLB Philip Botha holds BA and LLB Degrees from the University of Stellenbosch. During 1977 and 1978 he completed pre-doctoral studies in International Law at the Université de Paris II (ASSAS). On returning to South Africa in 1979 he was admitted as an Attorney and completed the Higher Diploma in Tax Law (University of the Witwatersrand) in 1980. Philip was a partner at a Johannesburg law firm from 1981 to 2004 when he left to found his own firm in 2005. Philip’s practice areas are corporate law; international trade and investments; and private client practice. In particular he has been involved in mining commercial matters including listings both locally and offshore as well as the negotiation of mining rights in Francophone Africa. Philip served on the Johannesburg Attorneys Association from 1985 to 1992, and chaired that body in 1991/2. He was also a Councillor of Law Society of the Northern Provinces from 1992 to 1997. He is currently a director of the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industries. He has presented papers over the years at seminars and conferences both in South Africa and internationally on corporate and investment legal issues.
