Matthews Dikane Senior AssociateLLB LLM Matthews Dikane joined Vaal Reefs Mining and Exploration Co (the Gold and Uranium Division of Anglo American) in 1987 as a learner official in mining, progressing through the ranks as a shift boss and a production mine overseer. During this time, he obtained his LLB and LLM in labour law from the North West University (Potchefstroom Campus) through part time study and served articles of clerkship with a law firm in Sandton. After having been admitted as an attorney, he joined the Law Department of AngloGold Ashanti Limited as legal counsel, dealing with inter alia, labour and environmental issues, mining rights as well as purchases and property sales. He also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Practice at the Graduate School of Business in the University of Cape Town and completed various courses in Environmental Law, Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Management Systems.
