Johan Olivier
Director BA LLB LLM Johan Olivier joined a Johannesburg law firm in 1987 as a candidate attorney, and was appointed a director of that firm in 1992. During this period he completed an LLM at the Rand Afrikaans University, specialising in administrative law and constitutional law. Johan was a co-founder of Brink Cohen Le Roux in 1993. Johan is an arbitrator specialising in employment law matters involving mainly corporate clients and he is also a fellow of the Association of Arbitrators of Southern Africa. He regularly appears in the CCMA, Labour Court and occupational health and safety forums himself. He also conducts his own appearances in the High Court in civil litigation matters when appropriate. Johan has extensive experience in corporate restructuring, providing advice in dealing with collective bargaining cases including strikes and lock-outs, discrimination law and dealing with disciplinary and litigation proceedings concerning all employment issues. Advising clients on issues relating to Retirement Funds and Medical Aid also forms part of his practice. Johan was listed in the "International Who's Who of Management, Labour and Employment Lawyers, 2005" published by the Official Research Partner of the International Bar Association. He was as such nominated by his international peers as one of the world's leading practitioners in the field. Johan is regularly invited to deliver addresses at seminars and conferences dealing with his areas of expertise. He is an active member of Committee P (Employment Law) of the International Bar Association and regularly participates in and chairs sessions at the IBA's Annual International Business Law Conferences attended by attorneys from across the world.
