Debra Chalmers
ConsultantBA LLB H Dip Tax Law Debra Chalmers graduated cum laude from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1987, having been awarded the Society of Advocates Prize for the most distinguished LLB graduate in that year. She also completed her H Dip Tax Law (cum laude) at the University of the Witwatersrand and was awarded the prize for the best student for that course. She was admitted as an attorney, notary and conveyancer during 1990 and 1991 and was a founding partner of Brink Cohen Le Roux in 1993. Whilst practising as an attorney in South Africa, Debra specialised in financial markets, project and structured finance, sales and leasebacks, mining law and tax and gave advice in connection with securities lending and asset securitisations for financial institutions. Debra is currently based in London where she is the c.o.o of a financial services company that offers personalised global wealth management services to high net worth individuals. She acted previously as corporate legal counsel to a large multinational IT company in London and thereafter gained further international experience whilst employed in the banking and finance division of Clifford Chance LLP.
